A little about me
My career started on the sales floor at Sherwin-Williams in 2002 as a part-time associate. By 2004 I was an assistant manager, and in 2005 I had my own store in Alexandria, Virginia. Over the next 17 years I ran three of them, Alexandria, Chantilly and Lone Tree, Colorado, owning every controllable line of the P&L. Sales grew at every one.
Today I oversee every department of a 29,000 sq ft Ace Hardware store, with a team of 30 that grows to 60 in peak season. The work that drives me hasn't changed: owning the P&L line by line, keeping inventory honest, getting deliveries out on time and building people into managers. Five of my employees became assistant managers, and two went on to run stores of their own.
My job is to run stores and make them better than I found them.
A few things I've worked on
Built by opening and growing commercial accounts with our sales reps. In 2019 the branch ranked 3rd of 78 stores in sales.
Sherwin-Williams' highest award, FY2019 to FY2021, for beating sales budget by 5% or more while hitting controllable expense budget. Lone Tree grew from $2.3M to $3.7M by 2022.
A clean audit across inventory, cash, customer accounts, store operations, safety and deliveries, with a fleet of 5 drivers, a box truck and 2 vans on the road.
Hundreds of gallons were missing when I arrived. Tracing billing, receiving and P&L records turned the gap into a gain at the year-end count, and caught rebates from five stores charged to ours.
